Central Jakarta Secretary Leads Food Inspection at Senen Market

Central Jakarta Secretary, Iqbal Akbarudin led monitoring on food safety and food price stability at Senen Market Block III, Tuesday (5/4).

But its stock in markets is sufficient to meet the people's need

According to him, it was done to ensure food availability for Eid al-Fitr and to meet health standards for food commodities.

From this monitoring, he ensured food stock in Central Jakarta is safe ahead of Eid al-Fitr. However, several food prices have increased, including beef that has increased about Rp 10,000 from Rp 120,000 into Rp 130,000 per kilogram.

"Chili and onion prices have also increased by about Rp 5,000 per kilogram. But its stock in markets is sufficient to meet the people's need," he asserted.

He admitted that from monitoring, his side found traders in Senen Market who were selling commodities that contain of formaldehyde, borax, and dye.

"We confiscate all food commodities that contain of hazardous substances and close their stalls," he stated.    

His side also asked related agencies to trace food commodities that contain of hazardous substances.

"This finding shouldn't only reach the traders, but should be investigated to the suppliers. They will be sanctioned according to the applicable regulation," he mentioned.

Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Penty Yunesi Pudyastuti explained, her side and BPOM were checking food availability and prices in traditional markets.

"We found bean curd that contained of dye and formaldehyde, as well as banana chips that contained of borax. Traders who sell it have been reported for BAP," she conveyed.
